Devised Project
(2022, dir. Murphy, Pincekova, Lee, Quiroz, Sekete and Jensen)
Our devised project called FOR SALE: Newham 2058 took place in an imagined, post-apocalyptic borough of London where a troupe of players entertain the audience with cautionary tales of displacement, class division and housing crisis.
The movement piece was placed as a prologue and I choreographed it inspired by Meyerhold etudes. Throwing a stone created a parallel for brick making, which was our given topic, as well as Dactyl movement directly resembles the action of brickmaking. I used the idea of human machinery leading towards apocalyptic dystopia shown in hectic movement in the end as a metaphor of destroyed cities.
Contemporary Project
(2021, dir. Quiroz)
This project was our first term final assessment. We were inspired by the feeling of uncertainty of people whose loved ones disappeared. The project is called Quendanana, a Mexican word reflecting the origins of our director and our hope to implement this culture and views into this piece. My character was Connie Converse, a real-life singer, who disappeared. The memory of her was embodied in the last letter that she wrote as a farewell, which was used in this performance. This site-specific piece is a love letter to those who decided to leave.
